GraviFire - PS5 Platinum Review

GraviFire is nothing to do with flaming gravy. It's a unique gravity-based puzzle game set in space with a fairly quick and easy Platinum trophy.

There are 50 puzzle levels which you'll need to solve to earn the Platinum trophy. Each level requires you to move your character in order to push blocks so that a block is resting on every switch. This can either be accomplished by physically pushing the blocks onto the switches or using your gravity ability with the right stick which will make all blocks move in the direction you aim. The blocks will stop when they land on something, so you can position yourself to stop the blocks exactly where you need them. It's actually harder to explain than it is to play, but it's good fun with a bit of a challenge.

The first few levels are very simple but they do get a lot more complicated from mid-game, however the good thing is that every level has a fixed solution so if you follow a guide and press the right buttons in the right order, you can complete the game without even looking at the screen - should you want to.

Overview

  • Release Date: 3rd March, 2021

  • Date Started: 12th March, 2021
  • Date Completed: 12th March, 2021

The Good

  • Quite an interesting and unique concept.
  • Every level has a fixed solution. With a walkthrough it's a complete breeze.

The Bad

  • No cross-buy bundle, so if you want the Platinum on PS4 and PS5 you'll have to buy it twice.
  • Some of the later levels can take around 150 moves to complete. If you're following a guide and press the wrong button, you'll probably have to replay the full level, wasting previous minutes!

Hardest Trophy

  • Pass level 50 - Pass level 50.

With a guide, there are no difficult trophies. You'll just have to concentrate on pressing the right buttons and waiting for any blocks to finish moving before you press the next ones. The last batch of levels require a lot of button presses however so concentration is especially important for this which is why I'm suggesting the last trophy is the most difficult.

Helpful Tips / Bugs / Glitches / Exploits

No exploits that I'm aware of, but if you use a walkthrough you just need to follow the button presses in the right order to complete every level. Couldn't be easier.

Platinum Difficulty Rating - 1/10

1/10

I have no idea how challenging this would be without a guide, however I imagine it would get very tricky in the later levels. Thankfully with a walkthrough it was no challenge at all.

Platinum Time - 30-45 Mins

You can probably do it quicker, but if you're following a guide it's better to press the buttons slowly so that you can be sure the blocks have finished moving before you attempt to move again. Otherwise one of your button presses won't register in-game and you'll have to start the level from scratch which can be annoying on the longer and more complex puzzles.

Platinum Enjoyment Rating - 7/10

7/10
In terms of it being relaxing and not challenging at all with a guide, it was a good game, however I was a bit disappointed that there's no cross-buy and I think the game would stop getting fun long before 50 levels if you didn't use a guide. I do like an easy Platinum though so for a game you can beat in a single sitting, there can't really be too many complaints.

Overall Game Rating - 6/10

6/10
It's a good puzzle game, but not one I'd have bought if it wasn't for the trophies. More casual gamers might enjoy the challenge and it's good to know you can always fall back on a guide if you get stuck. I'd recommend it to trophy hunters for an easy Platinum, but if that's not your thing I'm not convinced there's enough gameplay here to justify buying it.
