Orbibot - PS5 Platinum Review

Orbibot is a simple platformer where you guide a ball through a variety of puzzles on your way to a 10 minute Platinum Trophy.

Orbibot is a puzzle game set on floating platforms in the sky. You'll control a robotic ball and use physics and logic to get to the end zone and complete each level. For the Platinum trophy you'll only need to complete the first 3 and a bit levels, plus a few misc objectives which you'll probably complete naturally on the way, so the Platinum can be yours in around 10 minutes.

Some of the levels will require you to knock boxes or barrels off the side of the level, or onto buttons to activate switches which open doors. You'll also need to carefully navigate your way across thin platforms, but falling off the side doesn't actually do any harm as you'll respawn at the last checkpoint. A couple of the puzzles take a bit of working out, but in general it's a nice and easy game with more levels to play after all of the trophies have popped.

The Good

  • The ball is quite easy to control and there is practically no punishment for falling off the level.
  • The ability to rotate the camera helps to make some of the tricky sections a bit easier, a feature which isn't always available in other games of this type.
  • The graphics look pretty good for such a basic game.
  • Mid-level checkpoints help to speed up completion.
  • Only 3 levels required for the Platinum.
  • More levels to play after the Platinum pops, should you want to keep going.
  • The PS4 and PS5 versions are bundled together offering two Platinums for one purchase.

The Bad

  • Although the ball itself is quite easy to control, using it to knock other objects into holes or onto buttons is a bit more tricky and most of the time needed for completion seems to come from getting the hang of this.

Hardest Trophy

  • I will prevail - Push 5 different spheres from the level into the sky.

The only reason I'm suggesting this is the hardest trophy is because it'll probably be the last one you unlock. It'll take you until the 4th level before it unlocks naturally unless you replay one of the earlier levels multiple times. Otherwise the game is pretty straight forward.

Helpful Tips / Bugs / Glitches / Exploits

There are no bugs or exploits required to help get the Platinum. The game is very straight forward, just take your time and knock every object you find off the side of the platform for misc trophies.

Platinum Difficulty Rating - 2/10

2/10

A few of the platforming bits can be slightly tricky, particularly when knocking the metal balls into tubes however it's a game you can Platinum in a single sitting so it can't be too challenging can it?

Platinum Time - 10 Minutes

If you know what you're doing, completing the 3 required levels and mopping up the misc objectives should take no more than 10 minutes. If it's your first playthrough it might take a few minutes longer while you figure out some of the solutions, but it's a quick and easy game.

Platinum Enjoyment Rating - 10/10

10/10
Although the game was reasonably short, I enjoyed what was required for the Platinum Trophy. Nothing was too challenging but it certainly wasn't a free Platinum and actually required you to complete a number of the levels.

Overall Game Rating - 8/10

8/10
It's a fun 3D puzzle platformer. I think the novelty would wear off fairly quickly so it's good that the Platinum pops quite early, but there are lots more levels to complete if you want to keep going. Graphically it looks good with some nice effects and animations and the physics and controls are smooth. I'd recommend this one to trophy hunters especially, but anyone looking for something new to play to kill an hour or so should consider giving it a go.
